Dr.Kent MorleyCalgary Veterinarian
Dr. Kent Morley grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. He always knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and was interested in the biological sciences from the age of seven. This led him to pursue his dream at the University of Saskatchewan before graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997, where he met his wife, Dr. Lia Morley. Upon graduation, he briefly worked in Red Deer before coming to NE Calgary’s Properties Animal Clinic in the Fall of 1997. He became a partner in 2001 and sole owner of the practice in 2006. Dr. Morley is now a well-known veterinarian in Calgary, interested in diagnostic imaging, dentistry, general surgery and endoscopy. Outside of referral centres, he is one of the only veterinarians in Calgary to perform laparoscopic liver biopsies. To keep current with the advances in medicine, he regularly attends professional conferences to improve his medical and surgical skills. When not wearing his Calgary veterinarian hat, Dr. Morley enjoys playing hockey, snowboarding, coaching little league baseball and hockey, camping and photography.
Dr. Lia Morley grew up in Grande Prairie, Alberta where she too knew by a young age she wanted to be a veterinarian. She moved to Edmonton to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Zoology from the University of Alberta before attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and graduating in 1997. After graduation, Dr. Lia Morley went on to do an internship in equine medicine and surgery in Snohomish, Washington. She returned to Calgary where she married Dr. Kent Morley. She practiced both equine and small animal medicine and surgery before having two wonderful boys. She now takes care of the Morley clan and fills in as relief for Kent. She enjoys horseback riding, scrapbooking and baking.
After bringing them into the Properties Animal Clinic, Lia spent the next few weeks bottle-feeding them. Although the Morleys quickly fell in love with them, it was left up to Bean to choose whether or not they could stay. At eighteen years old, she had earned the right to decide. At first, she looked at them with contempt and the occasional hiss. Finally one day, she jumped onto the couch where they were, started to groom them and then snuggled in for a nap. Marshmallow and Miss Mew are now officially part of the Morley family.
